"This Old House" means lots of Projects

Since we have a lot of carpet to rip out and furniture to buy .... we opted to start with 2 of the 3 bathrooms. Here's Lea in the Pink Bathroom replacing all the old caulking and regrouting some of the tiles.

The pink bathroom had this really ugly pink marbled toilet seat that refused to come off because the bolt was rusted ..... so we squeezed a hack saw blade in and cut it off .... that pink seat just really had to go!

Meanwhile I've removed the shower door from the Blue Bathroom and pulled off some loose tiles to expose the rotted wood that the house inspector told us was probably there because of some loose tiles by the shower door hinge. It's dry and just a small area of rot but I'm waiting for the plumber (who's also a bathroom remodeler) to come and give me his opinion on how to proceed.

In the meantime I cleaned things up in the blue bathroom and threw away the uneeded curtain in the window (it just opens up to forest), painted the blue walls a light brown sandy color and applied a limewash. Now I'm waiting on the plumber to break free the shut off valves for the sink so I can replace the faucet. I was able to break free the toilet shutoff so I could replace the old flushing system and bowl seal.

Lea's working on the "office" down in the basement. She pulled out the neon green shag carpet (I really was hoping she'd keep it but ......) and padding, put a coat of Kilz primer on the cheap paneling and stained the cement floor. I'm showing you this work in progress because I think this room will look awesome when she's done. You've got to have vision :)

While Lea's working downstairs, I'm working on one of the rooms upstairs that will be my computer room ...... yeaaaaaaa! So here's where I'm at ..... lot's of boxes .... many are in the closet but the rest are kinda pushed off to oneside while I put together some sort of countertop. From Lowes I bought 2 unfinished cabinets and a laminate counter top. I'm in the process here of Watco oiling them. This room too will surely be awesome when done.

Our "Living Room" while we do have our bed in our bedroom we don't have much else in the way of furniture other than our art/craft table that we had in the kitchen at SMR ..... so for now we've set up a couple of blow up matresses on the floor and a TV on a small cabinet so we have a space to call ...... the Living Room.

It's storming today but even in the rain Lea managed to trim the Crab Apple Tree

From the top deck ....

From the bottom deck ..... let it rain :)

The Move

On The Road ..... yeaaaaaa!

We stayed at La Quinta Inns because they are pet friendly and don't charge extra for pets. The second night on the road we stayed in Oklahoma City. The first night we stayed in Albuquerque and I'm glad that we had made a reservation because all the rooms were full ..... full of dogs! There was a huge dog show in town for the weekend. Our girls could care less .... they were pretty tired.

A wall in a Missouri rest stop. Their rest stops were like none I'm used to .... they're beautiful!

Backed it down the hill .... opened the doors .... and let it all slide out.

Not really ....

For about 4 days the carport was full of all our stuff, everything came out of the UHaul and into the carport so it was a big deal to actually have enough stuff put away to get the car in.

So after a big storm the night before ..... we finished emptying out the UHaul and returned it to a place close to home in Cherokee Village. I shot this picture while I was waiting for the guy to check in the UHaul. Seems when it rains a lot, the lakes can overflow a little onto the roads .... I love it! And .... yes .... that is a wooden sidewalk.

Ahhhhhhhh

Happy :)

Tomorrow I'll post some pictures of what we're doing inside the house.

The Quick Trip To Tahoe

We really wanted our "fun" summer stuff out of motorhome to take to our new home in Cherokee Village. We gave away our motorhome to my nephew, who will turn around and sell it, but there were just a few things that we couldn't leave behind.

Did I mention how cold it was .... it was FREEZING! Here's Lea shivering in about 10 degree weather when we stopped at Mono Lake. Notice the shorts ...... shorts???

But it was a beautiful drive especially as it began to get light.
