Hey, I was just guessing about the plant. It could also be a dahlia. You should be able to grow both asparagus and rhubarb in your zone. I see these starter roots at Home Depot here. Unfortunately they take a while to mature. How about some rhododendrons in yor tree area? This is great fun--more, more.
Lea and I both like the Rhododendron suggestion for our tree area ... just may do that. I'm anxious to finish getting the garden planted but we're in the thick of a week long rain experience. In the meantime ... I'll make some planters out of my stock of cedar wood. Be back soon :)
