The Rain Barrel

I managed to get the old rusted out rain barrel apart and rolled it up the hill to the street. Our hope was that someone would take it or maybe ... since the next morning was trash day ... the trash man would be kind enough to put it in the trash truck. I was bummed when I got up this morning to see it still sitting there next to our trash bins on the street .... however .... a few minutes later a truck stopped and a guy jumped out and threw it in the back of his truck .... yeah!!!! The funny part is that we went to B&B Supply (the lumber yard) later and besides running into John (Lea's brother in-law) in the parking lot, there was also the blue truck with our old rusted out barrel in it ..... small town stuff .... I love that!

Here's a little video I made on the rain barrel ....

  1. I just had a grrrreat idea! Jean loves all her outdoor work--I'll ask her to make us a rain barrel--wouldn't that be ideal for here??? Not don't tell me we wouldn't get more than a teaspoon in it every year!!!

  2. Good job on the rain barrel. We use 33gal trash can and dip with a watering can. Works well. And the garden.. Wish ours was smaller. Haven't started on it yet. Need to get in some potatoes and onions. Hard to do when it is still snowing and in the 20s in the morning.

  3. Pat ... awe ..... it's probably against HOA ARC/LRC rules and regs anyway. And we think the plant in the garden is a Peony.

Mir ... still snowing???? OMG! It's 82 here today and are garden still isn't planted .... at least you have an excuse. Supposed to rain off and on for the next week so we'll be planting between rain drops. Many gardens in the area are already pretty green so either we're late or they're early. Potatoes and onions sounds great ... an advantage of a large garden. Lea and I used to grow Corn but our garden spaces here are too small .... maybe next year.
