Wind Chimes

First off .... here's Sydny's new wading pool ....

Here's Lea making us a big set of wind chimes for our upstairs deck ....

And here it is on our deck as viewed through the window from our "bar" .....

and a few short hours later ....

And this morning's sunrise .....

I love my iPad and one of the things I do with it is read Kindle books .... however .... if we ever get a pool (yeah right) or put lounge chairs down at the river .... then I might consider getting a Kindle for reading at the water's edge .... hmmmmm .... maybe not .... I'm just not a lounging kind a gal but you may be .....

  1. I bet Sydny just loves her swimming pool--cool looking.
I can just hear your wind chimes. As you know, we do love wind chimes--we've got them in front and back.
I much prefer to read the old fashion way--a real book with paper pages!! I read in the evening everyday--I have always loved reading and I just like the feel of a book. Jean and I were just talking about that the other day about not wanting a Kindle.

  2. I do know that you love your wind chimes .... I see in our future many more. I have really taken to reading Kindle books on my iPad, mostly because I like to read in bed, and with the iPad I don't need a light so it's not intrusive on someone next to you who's trying to sleep :) .... I'm not sure about the new Kindle Reader but in the past they haven't had backlights so you couldn't read them in the dark .... but as we now know .... you can read them in bright light. I really do love their commercial.

  3. I'm impressed that Lea can make her own wind chimes. Are her chimes tuned? I have a really nice set that was given me by a colleague when my son, Alan, died. She could make anything, like you and Lea. My chimes have 6 pipes and each pipe is tuned to a note in the diatonic scale. This particular set of notes (G, Bb, C, D, F, G) is called Greek Dorian Mode. It is a beautiful and spiritual sound. If you are familiar with "Along Comes Mary" by The Association, it is written in Greek Dorian Mode. Much more than anyone wants to know about chimes, I'm sure. I had to hang mine where the wind could not activate them because Phyl just hates chimes. I tried to convince her she would like this particular set because they are tuned but I couldn't convince her. So I just go out and give them a little nudge whenever I want to hear them.

  4. Thanks for the info on the Greek Dorian Mode .... I always thought that "Along Comes Mary" had a different sound to it .... a unique key. Now I know.
I love wind chimes as do Pat and Jean. I think you should all group yourselves by likes and dislikes in the park. All those who love dogs and windchimes are on one side of the park and the others on the other side. Simple solution as are many of the SMR problems .... but who listens to me or Bobbie?
