The Boring Stuff

Not much fun stuff to post about the last few days ..... did the Lowes run for tons of baseboards & chair railings. The floor is in ....

And the baseboards are almost in .... we worked downstairs and upstairs today and by the time we got upstairs our backs were going down :)

I'm still "chipping" away at the blue bathroom shower .... today I finally repaired the area that had rotted out, and finished removing the remaining part of the shower door .... which was so glued and caulked on (probably because the screws holding the door were rusted to toothpicks) that it's taken me many hours to remove it but even still I had to duct tape on all the adjacent tiles to keep them from falling and breaking ..... so I have a whole bunch of tiling repair work ahead of me .... but I won't have any leaks or rotted wood :)

Ahhhhhh .... but our Popcicle Molds arrived!!!!! Yayyyyyyyyyy! We even got a book of awesome recipes so we'll be off to Walmart tomorrow.

This one's for Jean .... since we tore down the garden fencing that was here ... it really did look like a batting cage and we both hated it so until next year .... we're growing some stuff in rubbermaid storage containers (yes I did drill a bunch of drainage holes in the bottom) .... do you think an HOA would allow this? :)

  1. What ever is growing looks great; tomatoes maybe? What are you going to do with the area you cleared; plant fruit trees. On my farm I used a old riding lawn mower to keep the weeds at bay;from a distance it looked like a natural lawn. You two must be exhausted at days end but it all looks wonderful.

  2. You gals are amazing! The floor looks great. Everything looks great. I cannot believe how much work you two are getting done in a really short time.

  3. Well .... our bodies keep saying "Stop it! I'm sore!" We took a good hunk of today off and just did small stuff.
We really haven't decided what we're going to do with the cleared area since we won't do anything until next spring other than try and establish a terraced walkway .... a peach tree for sure but we still have more research to do on what will do best with our soil and climate. I wish we could just use a riding mower on the lower half but it's too rocky.
We do have Tomatoes as well as a variety of Peppers .... yummmm .... I love Bell Peppers :) So far the deer are leaving our rubbermaid vegetable beds alone ... keeping fingers crossed. I hate fencing but next year may succumb to some field fencing around our raised bed garden where the "batting cage" used to be.

We have a beautiful pair of cardinals that live here but still haven't been able to get a good shot yet. At some point we'll set up our DSLR's on a tripod and then we'll kick some bird photo arse. We'll also be setting up a video camera as well as field recorders.

    Thanks for the compliments :)
